Please note that tryouts are mandatory for all players in grades 5th-8th. Players must attend their designated time slot for their grade level.
Parents and coaches are not allowed to watch the tryouts. Coach Proue and the High School Boys Staff will be leading the session. Each player will be evaluated by three independent evaluators with strong basketball knowledge.
We kindly ask that players arrive 15 minutes early for the check-in process. Players will be given a jersey to wear with a number on it. Evaluators will only know the player's number. The evaluators will be scoring each player on basketball fundamentals as well as attitude. The players with the highest average score making the "A" team and the other players with lower average scores making the "B" team. "B" teams will be formed with coaches after the first weeks of practice. Our goal in having tryouts is to have players of similar abilities on the same team.
We ask that your player be ready to go upon arrival. He should have his basketball shoes, t-shirt, and shorts on. He should have a water bottle, but do not bring a basketball - basketballs will be provided.
Our advice for the boys is to RELAX and HAVE FUN! It is very important for them to work as hard as they can, hustle, be a good listener (eyes and ears), and no dribbling the basketball when someone is talking.
As a reminder, parents are not permitted to stay and watch during tryouts. Please drop your player off and be ready to pick them up promptly at the end of their scheduled time.
We will send an email with the date and time when teams will be announced, ensuring that both parents and players know when to expect the information.
