Cardinal Hoops Boys Basketball Player and Parent Contract

1. Student First

Basketball players are students first. Players are expected to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and positive behavior in school and in the community.

Negative behaviors toward school staff, classmates, or others may result in disciplinary action, including suspension from team activities or removal from the program.

2. Respect for Others

Players are expected to treat teammates, managers, statisticians, referees, coaches, opponents, and spectators with respect.

Bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

3. Sportsmanship

Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.

Players are expected to represent Cardinal Hoops with integrity, humility, and respect.

Inappropriate language, taunting, or unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.

4. Commitment & Effort

Players are expected to arrive on time and prepared for practices, games, and team activities.

Success is built through consistent effort, attention, and a willingness to learn.

5. Equipment & Facilities

Players are responsible for caring for uniforms, equipment, and facilities.

Players and/or parents may be held financially responsible for damage caused by misuse of equipment or facilities.

6. Attendance & Communication

Regular attendance at practices and games is important to both individual and team development.

If a player must miss a practice or game, the coach should be notified as soon as possible.

Repeated unexcused absences may result in team-related consequences.

7. Team Culture

Players are expected to encourage one another and contribute positively to the team.

Criticism, negative comments, or actions that undermine teammates are not acceptable.

8. Communication & Conflict Resolution

If a player has concerns regarding their role, development, or playing opportunities, they are encouraged to speak directly with their coach in a respectful one-on-one conversation.

Parents and players are expected to follow the communication procedures and 24-hour rule outlined in this handbook.

9. Reporting Concerns

Players and parents are expected to communicate concerns promptly and respectfully so they can be addressed appropriately.

Open communication helps maintain a positive environment for all participants.
